He has developed a practical problem-solving approach to creating great retail experiences. His consultancy business put this into practice for clients ranging from convenience stores in Kazakhstan, fashion brands in Sweden, to big stores and brands in the UK.

 

Rick DeHerder was the founder of Array, a leading designer and manufacturer of fixtures and displays, with operations in North America and China and a network of strategic partners around the world. Prior to founding Array in 1999, Rick spent 24 years in both brand marketing as Executive Vice President at Mattel, and in the retail industry at Sears, working in the stores, regional offices, and headquarters. This broadbased experience gives him unique insight into the challenges of retail marketing at all levels.

 

Dick Blatt is the president of Planar World Consulting. He served as the CEO of POPAI—The Global Association for Marketing at Retail, for 17 years. In this role, he was called upon to author articles and deliver presentations around the world on the subject of marketing at retail, its future, and its trends. He was also selected to provide The Center for Association Leadership with two case studies of excellence for going global and reinventing the association. During his tenure, one of the association’s primary strategic goals was to integrate the marketing at retail medium in the strategic marketing mix. About the Author
Myrtle P. Bell is Professor of Management at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she has taught diversity courses to graduate and undergraduate students for more than 15 years. Her research focuses on diversity and social issues at work and appears in leading academic journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Learning & Education, Journal of Applied Psychology, Gender, Work & Organization, Human Resource Management, and Journal of Vocational Behavior and in numerous edited volumes. She is an active member of the Gender and Diversity in Organizations Division of the Academy of Management, which she has chaired, and has served as a member of the Academy's Board of Governors. She has been recognized internationally for her diversity scholarship, mentoring, and teaching.

I obtained this book and am delighted with it . Her writing is evocative , drawing from her childhood . The story is uplifting with a powerful lesson for the reader .     Great Insight and Step-by-Step Instructions

    I got great insight about how to build business credit and step-by-step instructions. It did a good job of breaking down the elephant into easily digestible bites. I had allotted a week to study the book before getting started but I'm actually ready to get started now after reading it in one evening. I was already familiar with all of the concepts, just not in this kind of detail; it helps that most of the info is written in plain conversational English with the most important details repeated in the order they come up in the step-by-step process.

    Stuff like this is never as easy as it seems and I'll probably have some questions once I get started but after reflecting on the info overnight, I'm eager to get rolling and confident it will be relatively easy if I just stay on top of the details. And be warned -- there are lots of details to manage but if you know that going in, you can get yourself mentally ready.

    Michael R. Solomon

    MICHAEL R. SOLOMON, Ph.D., joined the Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia as Professor of Marketing in 2006, where he also serves as Director of the Center for Consumer Research. From 2007 to 2013 he also held an appointment as Professor of Consumer Behaviour at The University of Manchester in the U.K. From 1995 to 2006, he was the Human Sciences Professor of Consumer Behavior at Auburn University. Prior to joining Auburn in 1995, he was Chairman of the Department of Marketing in the School of Business at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey. Professor Solomon’s primary research interests include consumer behavior and lifestyle issues~ branding strategy~ the symbolic aspects of products~ the psychology of fashion, decoration, and image~ services marketing~ and the development of visually oriented online research methodologies. He currently sits on the editorial boards of the Journal of Consumer Behaviour, the European Business Review, and the Journal of Retailing, and he recently completed a six yearterm on theBoard of Governors of the Academy of Marketing Science. In addition to other books, he is also the author of Prentice Hall’s text Consumer Behavior Buying, Having, and Being, which is widely used in universities throughout the world. Professor Solomon frequently appears on television and radio shows such as The Today Show, Good Morning America, Channel One, the Wall Street Journal Radio Network, and National Public Radio to comment on consumer behavior and marketing issues.

     

    Greg W. Marshall

    GREG W. MARSHALL, Ph.D., is the Charles Harwood Professor of Marketing and Strategy in the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida and is also Academic Director of the Executive DBA program there. For three years he also served as Vice President for Strategic Marketing for Rollins. Before joining Rollins, he was on the faculty of Oklahoma State University, the University of South Florida, and Texas Christian University. He also holds a visiting professorship in the Marketing Group at Aston Business School, Birmingham, UK. Professor Marshall earned a BSBA in Marketing and an MBA from the University of Tulsa, and a Ph.D. in Marketing from Oklahoma State University. His research interests include sales management, marketing management decision making, and intraorganizational relationships. He is editor of the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice and former editor of the Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management and currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Business Research, and Industrial Marketing Management. Professor Marshall is Past President of the American Marketing Association Academic Division, a Distinguished Fellow and Past President of the Academy of Marketing Science, and a Fellow and Past President of the Society for Marketing Advances. His industry experience prior to entering academe includes product management, field sales management, and retail management positions with firms such as WarnerLambert, the Mennen Company, and Target Corporation.

     

    Elnora W. Stuart

    ELNORA W. STUART, Ph.D., is Professor of Marketing and Associate Dean of the George Dean Johnson, Jr. College of Business and Economics at the University of South Carolina Upstate. Prior to joining USC Upstate in 2008, she was Professor of Marketing and the BP Egypt Oil Professor of Management Studies at the American University in Cairo, Professor of Marketing at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and on the faculty of the University of South Carolina. She has also been a regular visiting professor at Instituto de Empresa in Madrid, Spain. She earned a BA in Theatre/Speech from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and both a Master of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication, and a Ph.D. in Marketing from the University of South Carolina. Professor Stuart’s research has been published in major academic journals including the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Advertising, Journal of Business Research, and Journal of Public Policy and Marketing. For over 25 years she has served as a consultant for numerous businesses and not for profit organizations in the United States and in Egypt.

    An excellent Intro to Marketing Text

    This text gives a great overview of the many aspects of marketing. The text explains all aspects in great theoretical detail with an abundance of real world examples to clearify each point. The text is up to date and the real people, real decisions stories are quite interesting and fitting to the subject of their respective chapters.
    The book was easy to read and all important points are highlighted and defined in the page margins.
    The study guide which comes with the text helps students remember the key points of each chapters by providing a brief summary of the chapter followed by a number questions of all different types.
    This is the second administration text book that I have bought from Pearson Education and I would recommend this book for anyone who is taking or planning on taking an introduction to marketing course at the University or College level or even for those who just wish to know more about the topic of marketing.

    Big Savings over U.S. version

    I saved big by buying an used International version of this textbook. The printed quality of some of the pages was a little blurry, but otherwise the book was in very good condition.

    The product was accurately described and shipping was super-fast. I placed the order on the 5th and had the book 3 business days later. I couldn't be happier!

    The following note is not part of the review, it is just to inform people who are interested in buying this INTERNATIONAL VERSION:

    Other sellers & sites describe this version as being identical to the U.S. version, except for the front cover. That's not entirely true. The international version is 22 pages off. For example, page 50 of the U.S. version would be page 72 of the international version.

    Best Textbook I Have Had. Ever.

    I got this for my online Marketing Class. The book is very easy to read, and it's even easier to find most concepts for quick reference during papers and quizzes. It's got a great breadth to it, and the writer must have been open-minded since it includes a lot of what I would think of as niche examples of things (Kevin Smith, greetings in Japanese stores, etc). It's a fun book as far as textbooks go.

    Continuing his magisterial account of the Eastern Front campaigns, the writer cited by The Atlantic as “indisputably the West’s foremost expert on the subject” focuses here on the Red Army’s operations from the fall of 1943 through the April 1944. David M. Glantz chronicles the Soviet Army's efforts to further exploit their post-Kursk gains and accelerate a counteroffensive that would eventually take them all the way to Berlin.

    The Red Army's Operation Bagration that liberated Belorussia in June 1944 sits like a colossus in the annals of World War II history. What is little noted in the history books, however, is that the Bagration offensive was not the Soviets’ first attempt. Battle for Belorussia tells the story of how, eight months earlier, and acting under the direction of Stalin and his Stavka, three Red Army fronts conducted multiple simultaneous and successive operations along a nearly 400-mile front in an effort to liberate Belorussia and capture Minsk, its capital city. The campaign, with over 700,000 casualties, was a Red Army failure.

    Glantz describes in detail the series of offensives, with their markedly different and ultimately disappointing results, that, contrary to later accounts, effectively shifted Stalin’s focus to the Ukraine as a more manageable theater of military operations. Restoring the first Belorussian offensive to its place in history, this work also reveals for the first time what the later, successful Bagration operation owed to its forgotten precursor.

    David M. Glantz, an officer in the US Army from 1963 to 1993, is editor in chief of The Journal of Slavic Military Studies. He is the author of numerous books, many from Kansas, including his celebrated Stalingrad Trilogy. Mary Elizabeth Glantz obtained a PhD in history from Temple University and is the author of the book FDR and the Soviet Union: The President’s Battle over Foreign Policy (Kansas).
