DVD on Natural Pools

There is so little written about natural pools, so I purchased this DVD to help me understand even more. It's okay but I wish there was a lot more to it.
The author did a good job showing the steps needed. Once you understand the concepts, you should be able to design any size or shape pool. But even after watching, I have lots of questions.
Pros: His homemade bubbler system is easy, cheap, and wouldn't injure any wildlife. Kudos!!! Good thinking!
Cons: Don't watch it late at night...the author has a very soothing voice and will have you counting sheep in no time....I had to watch it more than once to make it all the way through.
I will watch it again to totally grasp the concepts before I design my own. After watching this DVD, I feel more confident about the process. This is not an easy D-I-Y project. But the author shows it can be done. I'm encouraged.

This edition of book 5 of The Faerie Queene is a welcome contribution. Stoll presents a text that will be very useful in the classroom. The decision to make available individual (or in two cases, paired) books of the romance will make it possible for instructors to teach their preferred books of the romance; Stoll's edition of book 5 will certainly increase the likelihood that the Legend of Justice will reappear in undergraduate classrooms, introducing students to a text in which Spenser scholars are increasingly interested. Two editions of Spenser are both from the same series, published by Hackett Publishing Company, which is providing inexpensive paperback volumes of The Faerie Queene, under the general editorship of Abraham Stoll. The volumes printed this year, books 1 and 5, are edited, respectively, by Carol V. Kaske and Stoll himself. A single volume combining books 3 and 4, edited by Dorothy Stephens, is forthcoming, as is book 6, edited by Andrew Hadfield. The volumes are attractively printed, with notes at the bottom of the page. Each volume includes an introduction, the Letter to Raleigh, a brief 'Life of Edmund Spenser,' textual notes, a glossary, an 'Index of Characters,' and a bibliography. Kaske's introduction to book 1 forms an accessible student guide, touching on a wide range of topics, from versification, genre, and allegory, to 'Spenser's Religious Milieu.' At the same time, there are fresh flashes of insight, no doubt derived from Kaske's long experience of teaching a complex poem. . . . Eschewing 'political and biographical allegory (p. xvi), the notes offer plenty of help to the student seeking to get behind the veil of Spenser's dark conceit, for they emphasize symbolism and historical context, especially literary context or 'sources.' Stoll's edition of book 5 of the Faerie Queene includes a judicious introduction of considerable merit. Not simply well written and learned, it partitions the information in an accessible and interesting way. Stoll is fully attuned to the recent controversies surrounding the Legend of Justice, but he does more than record them for the student reader; he manages to express sympathy for both poet and poem. Students need to hear the historical nature of Spenser's achievement for English literature, and Stoll leads nicely with this topic: book 5 is 'one of the most challenging meditations on justice in English literature' (p. ix). Stoll is as sensitive to the violence of book 5 as he is to its strangeness and beauty. Students will appreciate the short inventory of important works of criticism at the end of each section. The notes are not as full as Kaske's, but perhaps appropriately so. . . . One of the best in the series. Great action and knightly derring do, with the theme of Justice elaborated in compelling and satisfying & unexpected ways. Solid notes throughout, though I'd recommend you keep handy the glossary for Books 3-4 in the earlier Stephens volume, which is way more copious. This wonderful poem is not beyond the reach of any literate twelve-year-old, and I wish more parents and teachers would introduce them to it.

Faerie Queene book 5

I ordered my book from textbooksnow and it arrived early, was in better condition than what I thought it would be, and it is an edition that is very easy to read and understand. I got this because I am doing a semester long research paper on book five and was wanting my own book which I could mark in. It had no previous marks in it and there is a section at the beginning that talks about the characters and themes. I will certainly be looking at buying the complete "Faerie Queene" at a later date from this company.

Ron Penton is an independent programmer with a primary interest in computer games. He began using GW-BASIC in 1989, moved on to Visual Basic 4 in 1995, QBasic in 1996, and learned C++ in 1997. Good start to game programming

I got this book as recommended by my programming professor while I was working on my undergrad at University of DeVry. It thoughfully explains process of game design and many of the critical terms and nature of games and walks through their development to create your own games.

Xbox Live games are created with XNA which is a required free download from Microsoft and allows you to actually write games you could eventually play on your Xbox and even cooler is using your controllers to learn the coding for games while designing your games.

This is a great book if you want to read a book

This is a great book if you want to read a book. The Hands on experience with SharpDevelop and what you read in the book about SharpDevelop is confusing when trying to learn how to use the program. Might want to read SharpDevelop Help instructions before using SharpDevelop. Also, when compiling code I had errors with every project from Chapter 6 and 7. I am learning about Sprites at Chapter 7 and I have given up programming with SharpDevelop because of the errors I receive when I compile the code. I am unable to get any output. I was able to figure out some of the Errors at Chapter 6 that derived from DirectX3D.dll. With constant updating of DirectX3D changes of been made with the program that caused errors that I was able to fix. Also with the changes that have been made with DirectX3D I was unable to compile the file Sprites that comes from the demos off the disk in the back of the book. I was unable to fix this problem. Finally, Chapter 7 textures would not compile because SharpDevelop was unable to find the file located on my desktop called textures.jpg. Textures.jpg is used as a filler inside of a triangle for brick detail in Chapter 7. To try and solve these errors I installed Windows XP, DirectX 9.0, Framework 1.1 SDK and SharpDevelop 1.1 for windows XP. Then Sharp Develop 1.1 was unable to open the files from Chapter 1-10 Demos on the disk because of errors. I've also tried using Visual Studio to open and compile these files that come from Beginning C# Game Programming disk at the back of the book. I get the same errors when I compile the code. I debug the code and the reason for this is because of compatibility issues. My conclusion is the book is useful for reading and looking at black and white pictures but if you want to input code from the book into a frame to get output you will be unable to do so. This book was a good review of Beginning C++ Game Programming.

Lots of ground--perhaps too much.

After learning basic-moderate level functions in C++ and looking at Java code for a little while, this book was... for the most part, easy to follow.

There are two main issues that I found, however.

If I had absolutely 0 programming experience, then this book would be incredibly difficult to use, as there are MANY MANY MANY things that get thrown in 2 pages. There's barely any filler text, which is a plus, but for every topic there's 1, MAYBE 2 example texts. When I used my C++ book, I had a full two++ pages of examples per topic. Putting it bluntly, I had to read this with Google open for Chapters 3-5 because of either my misreading, or the brief explanations.

The gaming portion of the book is a nice introduction on how to set up your C# files, and what actually happens within a game. The last chapter (making your own game) is a little lackluster because of the time difference between the publication of the book and the year 2012. He was using Sharp v. 0.99 which has a different setup than today's (2.?). I read along with the gaming portion, but couldn't actually do it because I spent hours trying to look for a few links to point me in the right direction going off of what was written.

In general, don't hesitate to buy this book IF you need to learn basic C#, want to learn the basics of setting up files / game programming in general, have a little bit of knowledge in programming a different language, and have an open Google homepage on a nearby computer.

This study guide was made by a child.

If you really want to understand and learn chemistry, avoid yourself to buy this guide. This guide is poorly structured, it has a lot of typos, and the examples and problems exposed are incomplete and poorly written.
The guide contains the basics, but this content needs a prior explanation in order to be understood, thing that this guide lacks. It’s nothing more than a bunch of formulas and concepts alone that lack of meaning if you are introducing yourself into chemistry. In other words, to understand this guide you will need to read, or listen to an explanation of the material before you see this guide. Any other Intro to Chemistry book would be better to get the material. You cannot depend on this study guide alone.
If you are taking class with Mr. Olivas I suggest you to borrow a guide and take copies of the problems in the guide. Olivas will never tell you that you HAVE to buy the guide to pass the class, but anyway he will make you buy it if you want to get the homework percentage, since he makes the problems in the guide your homework (and he will make your grade depend on this guide alone, since he says you don’t need other source other than his study guide). But if you're smart enough to realize that the guide is nothing more than a pile of bound printouts, you’ll know that a job like this will cost you less than $50 at any other place (now you know why he makes you buy it). But considering that you only need the problem pages in order to get the homework percentage, then you should not spend more than $6 in copies of these problem pages (considering 10 cents per copy). This guide is a complete waste of time and money. Get any other Intro to Chemistry and you’ll be fine.
If you are already taking the class with Mr. Olivas, I suggest you study hard since now. Olivas has nothing to offer but exactly the same words in the study guide, which is one more reason to not buy this guide (why would you need the study guide if Mr. Olivas IS the study guide?). If you have not yet registered for the class, don’t waste your time and money.

Excellent resource for practicing chemistry.

The Study Guide is an informational book to travel through chemistry. It resumes the topics and provides guidance and simple examples and problems. The Study Guide covers the basics of chemistry for understanding and practicing. Chemistry is a difficult topic to study, but the Study Guide gets to give a brief description of the concept, example, and then practice problems. I recommend you to use it for basic understanding and practice. Use it to understand chemistry, since it is a difficult subject that involves knowing math.

This book makes difficult concepts of Chemistry much more understandable than other study guides I have used. To some this book might be too simplified, however Dr. Olivas did a wonderful job in not making it inaccurate while making it "easy." Moreover, one will still take the time to study hard to know why and how things are what they are involving all of the subjects covered in this course.

These fierce poems show us that fear and desire can never be separated. We want the storm, yes, but we also want to survive its fury. Or, as Schaer writes in "Disturbance," "Current / is the cure for both a stopped heart / and one that beats too much."
