The Real Deal about women

It is clear that David is intimate with his subject. The way he is able to intuit how much we have devalued ourselves is touching.It is also obvious that he is on the front lines in understanding how and why we treat ourselves. Probably the most impressionable and authentic of his traits is that David knows how to live clearly and really tries to take us by the hand on our journey.

I have always said that it is a cruel joke that God has played in creating man & woman so differently. However, as it turns out that we actually do complement each other and this book helps breaks that down.
ALL women would get something out of this insightful book, teenage girls too!

David really touched on the differences between male and female. It is a great book for women of all ages to read, especially nice to read a males perspective. Males could gain some valuable insight from it too. Overall, it is a really enjoyable and enlightening book.

Adequate for those practising in related fields

The book provides concise information on the main topics associated with Engineering Geology and related disciplines. It is not highly technical, which some may consider a negative, however as a casual reference for a practising engineer in a related field e.g. Geotechnical engineering or civil engineering, it is sometimes good not to get bogged down in the detail. For this reason though, the book would not serve undergraduate study particularly well, as there is a fair a amount of assumed knowledge required to get the greatest benefit from this book.

Good Intro to Both Geology and Engineering Geology

As a professional geologist that spent much time associating and working with engineers in the petroleum industry I always was interested in a combination of the 2 disciplines. I saw a similar text to this in the book store of a very highly thought of engineering school the the US and didn't pick it up but wish I had. The coverage of geology is pretty thorough if basic and more descriptive than quantitative (except for a few chapters in the middle on rock and soil strength). To cut to the chase what I like about this book is the abundant real-world examples which are included. If nothing else any professional working in this discipline should come away with a sense of striving for a thorough understanding of the geology and probable mechanical rock strengths before beginning any engineering project.

About the Author
Mark Vernon began his professional life as a priest in the Church of England, left an atheist, and is now a searching agnostic on such things. He is a writer and journalist, other titles including After Atheism and Wellbeing, part of the Art of Living series he edits. He writes regularly for the Guardian and the TLS, is on the faculty at The School of Life in London, and is an honorary research fellow at Birkbeck College, London. He has degrees in physics and theology, and a PhD in philosophy.

Everyone should read this book. It places friendship back at the center of human connection. It accurately captures the nuances, paradoxes and philosophical insights of friendship throughout the ages. It is academic, and yet well-suited for the layperson. I love this book!

Terrific Book... A Great Read...

The book is a terrific read. Couldn't put it down. It really grabs you as you relate the events of the depression era to what is happening in our society today... An honest look at the realities of living life as a hobo in America during the depression years...

Szalanski captures the period as well as the reader from the first page. The black and white photographs are a perfect accent.

Nice photos & cover

I was attracted to this because my hometown of New Kensington ,,is in the same area of Pittsburgh, my grandfather was a railroad hobo when he first immigrated to the US. Also we are Polish. For those reasons and the era, I enjoyed reading this booklet, which was very fast reading. There was not enough detailed content for me. Sometimes it repeated things or events that were already described. The writing using his father's journal was good in parts and I did like the historical references.

I started this book just a day ago and am so taken by the story. I love books that not only tell a story but teach something about history.
I would recommend this book for history teachers and students who are interested in knowing how the depression affected real people's lives. This is also the kind of story that can open up discussions with grandparents who may have grown up at this time.

Worst E&E I've ever used (and I've used a lot of them)

Ok, so I've used the E&E series for just about every course that has one. Most of the time, they're good. Some are certainly better than others. But this one.... this one is awful.
A) I normally don't spend too much time on the actual Examples or Explanations. I spend most of my time reading the sections to get an idea of what the rule is. This book spends exactly 0% of the actual chapter space explaining the rule. Instead, you are forced to do each of the examples and read through each of the explanations to get to the point.
B) Even when you do read through the examples and explanations, there's so much irrelevant nonsense in there. It's impossible to read.
C) Even if you're able to wade through all the nonsense, you're still left asking questions that the author hasn't answered.
D) The examples are soooooooooooooooo long, and the explanations even longer..... Annoying.
E) The jokes that the author makes are annoying and misplaced.

I would recommend not buying this book. Anything at all would be better.

This is the only E&E I used throughout law school. But it was well worth it. It tests all the nuances you need to know. The only complaint is that the answers it gives are a bit long. 3 pages of questions is followed by 13 pages of explanations.

This book was very helpful to me when studying for my Sales and Leases exam. Unfortunately, it does not cover the CISG. The coverage of the UCC is great though.
